Film History of Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area - Retired National Park Service Ranger Mike Malone will share his 20 years of film research of the national recreation area. Stretching from the Oxnard Plain to Mulholland Drive in Studio City it encompasses over 150,000 acres of public and private land. Since the era of silent film the Santa Monica Mountains have provided a backdrop of faraway lands and centuries gone by. More than 100 movies and TV shows were made using the Santa Monica Mountains as their backdrop. Join us on a journey of cinematic history we hope you will enjoy.
