Stuart Byles is the author of Los Angeles Wine: A History of the Mission Era to the Present. The book presents the little known story of winemaking in the Los Angeles region, and how important it was to the evolution of the wine trade in California. It is a story that is almost entirely forgotten.

Stuart is a founder of the Historical Society Of Crescenta Valley, and its current vice president. He is also the director of the Stone Barn Vineyard Conservancy, a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of wine history in the valleys, making wine from the grapes of the commemorative vineyard at Deukmejian Park in Glendale.
