Los Posadas Holiday Pageant
at Historic Andres Pico Adobe, Sunday, Dec. 10

The historic Andres Pico Adobe in Mission Hills will once again serve as the "Inn" for Las Posadas at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 10 when the San Fernando Valley Historical Society and CultuAtzlan/SFV Latino Arts Council co-sponsor the evening event.

Los Posadas is a traditional Christmas pageant performed to illustrate the story of Mary and Joseph as they were repeatedly turned away from the inns of Bethlehem while in search of shelter before the birth of Jesus. Volunteer actors dressed in traditional costumes knock on each inn door, where an innkeeper says there is no room. With each refusal, a special song is sung, and the weary travelers continue their journey until finally finding shelter with the animals. The lovely pageant takes place amid the soft light of holiday luminarias placed around the adobe. If you have never experienced this beautiful re-enactment, this is the year to attend.

Along with special music there will be traditional Mexican folk dances and other entertainment, plus customary refreshments including pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) and hot chocolate. Please plan to join the community for this very special holiday tradition at the historic adobe.

The adobe is located in Andres Pico Adobe Park, 10940 Sepulveda Blvd. (at Brand), Mission Hills. For additional information, please call 818-365-7810.
