Fall Tour

San Fernando Valley Historical Society sets Fabulous Fall Tour

The San Fernando Valley Historical Society is inviting the public to join their fabulous fall tour to two historically significant landmarks during its "Leonis Adobe and Rancho Carmarillo Tour," on Saturday, November 9, 2002.

The tour will depart by motorcoach beginning at 9 a.m. from the Andres Pico Adobe Park, 10940 Sepulveda, in Mission Hills, then travel to the 1880s-era Leonis Adobe and Plummer House in Calabasas. Leonis Adobe will feature docent-led tours by noted Valley historians Chuck and Maxine Tichenor, as well as have demonstrations by costumed volunteers. Live animals and great photo opportunities abound!

After this wonderful tour, participants will enjoy lunch at the famous Sagebrush Cantina, with a brief bit of time left to visit the shops in Old Town Calabasas. Then, the tour continues to Rancho Camarillo, the newly restored home of community leader Adolfo Camarillo, which was opened to the public in April of this year. The Camarillo family is well-known for its beautiful white horses that have appeared in many Southland parades, including the Rose Parade, for many decades. The docent-led tours of the Rancho Camarillo mansion will provide a glimpse inside a grand Queen Anne style Victorian home.

The tour cost of $35 per person (all ages, rain or shine) includes round-trip transportation, admissions to all sites, and lunch.

The San Fernando Valley Historical Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, and is conducting this tour as a fund-raising activity. All proceeds will benefit the Lankershim Reading Room restoration fund. Additional donations are welcome.

For tour reservations and additional information, please contact the Society at 818-365-7810.
